Journey Camp Speakers

Dr. David Olshine

David Olshine is the director and professor of Youth Ministry at Columbia International University in South Carolina. David has spoken to over 2 million people in his career at churches, camps, retreats, and conferences. Dr. David (also known as “Shiner”) has authored 19 books, including the best selling series “Studies on the Go” and “Youth Ministry: What’s Gone Wrong and How to Get It Right.” David is married to Rhonda and has two great kids, Rachel and Andrew. David will join us Week 4 in Toccoa Falls!

Nathan Smith

Nathan speaks to over 100,000 people annually on college campuses, youth events, camps, retreats, Dnow Weekends, and churches of different denominations. Audiences of all ages respond to his humor, passion for Christ, and clear style of presenting the Gospel. Nathan has jumped off cliffs, out of moving vehicles, and onto human beings during football games. He raced dirt bikes as a kid, speaks French fluently, and was almost killed by a lion in Botswana. When he was only 7 years old, Nathan saw his cat get struck by lightning, and to this day claims it was the best day of his life!

JD Meeder

We are so excited to welcome JD Meeder back to The Journey Camp this summer! JD has been a huge part of the ministry from the beginning. He was a Journey Staffer in 2012 and he has been working with us in different capacities every year since. JD has played a huge role in the growth of Journey Camp and we are so excited that he will be joining us to speak and pour into the lives of students this summer. Having been to Kenya several times with Love Africa Mission, JD also has a heart for Africa and loves helping college students discern God’s calling to Africa. JD will be joining us for Week 2 in Toccoa Falls!

Journey Camp Worship Team

Trent Thompson

Trent may have a creepy mustache but he also has a incredibly beautiful wife (and 3 attractive children – one in the oven!).  He has been leading worship for 7 years now. Trent is stoked to be leading for Journey again this year! Make sure you ask him about his worst injury.

At Journey Camp, we believe that fun activities are a HUGE part of camp, giving opportunities for your students to build relationships that last beyond summer camp! Check out the activities that we offer each afternoon at Journey Camp at Toccoa Falls.

    Tallulah Gorge State Park

Tallulah Gorge State Park is renown for the waterfalls that span the gorge and the refreshing swimming hole with a Sliding Rock on the gorge floor. The hike is strenuous (we aren’t kidding!). There is no additional cost for visiting Tallulah Gorge, but you do have to provide your own transportation to and from the park, which is a 20 minute drive from Toccoa Falls College.

Information / FAQ’s

Normal registration is $299.00 per person!

$50 deposit per person is due in order to confirm spots. The deposit counts towards your total balance and is non-refundable and non-transferable to another group.

Cost includes activities, lodging (4 nights), meals (11 tasty meals), camp materials, and a baller camp T-Shirt that you will wear all the days of your life.

The final balance is not due until the summer on the following dates:

Week 1 – May 11th

Week 2 – May 18th

Beach Week – May 24th

Week 3 – May 25th

Week 4 – June 9th

However, please send $50/person deposit today to register – spaces fill fast! We MUST have a deposit to register your group! We do not need names, just an estimate of the total number of participants (campers AND leaders).

* Deposit deadline is March 15. We strongly encourage you to send the deposit for at least the minimum number you are expecting, so that your group can come to Journey Camp on the week that you desire. Many of our weeks are maxed by March 15.

Yes, the price is the same for Youth Leaders/ Adult Volunteers. Youth Leaders/ adult Volunteers count towards your total number of registrants.
You cannot register without a deposit. You will need a $50/person deposit to reserve those spaces. And no, we will not need names. All we need to register is a total number (chaperones and campers).
You will be staying in college dormitories based on your gender. Each room is double occupancy and you will not have to sleep with strange humans from another church that is not as cool as yours. (Yay! You get to room with your friends!!!).
Of course, as long as there is space available! If there isn’t space left, we can always put you on our waiting list. (See below).
Students must be between a graduated sixth grader through a graduated twelfth grader. College students are welcome to attend as Adult Leaders.
We will welcome any group regardless of size. Unfortunately, we cannot have any teenagers roaming around un-chaperoned. There must be an Adult Group Leader.
Unfortunately, we cannot take day campers. Any person desiring to come to camp must have a chaperone and has to participate in the entire week.
We believe you know your students better than we do. However, Toccoa Falls requires that church groups bring 1 chaperone for every 10 teenagers. This needs to be separate for both males and females. Their responsibilities are to make sure that all of your teenagers are getting to where they need to be throughout the day. They are also there to help advise and counsel your teenagers with their daily walks with Christ. Throughout the day, chaperones will participate in all activities (besides tournaments) as if they were a camper themselves. You must have at least one male and one female chaperone if your group contains both genders.
Once a camp week is full, you have the option to be added to our waiting list. We do not require deposits for spots on the waiting list until those spots come available. We will contact you by phone or email should spots open up. When you are next in line, you will have 24 hours to reserve those spots and secure them with the appropriate deposit amount via PayPal or check.
You bet we do! We will provide a promotional video online that you can download to show your students, church staff, and leadership team. We will also email some INCREDIBLE graphics for you to use to create postcards, parent letters, website edits, etc. to reach as many students as possible through Journey Camp. The graphics will be available in the youth pastor portal and the video will be available as a FREE DOWNLOAD. And best of all, if your Church registers early, our Journey Staff will come to your Church for a promo night! We’ll bring Bubble Soccer, Archery Tag, and have one of the most exciting nights ever!
The morning session is a bit more casual and contains interactive worship and some creative announcements (Journey Camp News & video elements). The evening services involve extended worship with singing, media, and dynamic messages, including a specific invitation or challenge each night. All of our camp speakers center their talks on biblical truth, so that God’s Word remains our central focus and the driving force behind all we do at Journey Camp.
Church Group Time is a time in which your particular group will be able to meet together. We intentionally provide no structure for this time in an effort to allow you to do as you see fit. Some groups recap their day at camp to share what they are learning, some groups come prepared with four devotions for the week, etc. Larger church groups may break up into small groups during this time to discuss what students are learning from God’s Word. This is YOUR time with YOUR group at the end of the day.
We enjoy hosting campus-wide epic games that rival competition held by the Highlanders of Scotland. Capture the flag, Underground Church, Espionage, Hunger Games, Giant Tiki Runway, 300-foot Slip n’ Slide and other mind-blowing events could take place during this time. Some Late Night activities are chill, while some are thematic and redonkulous. Come prepared.
  •  A registration deposit of $50 per person is required for all Journey Camp participants. This deposit should be sent at the time of registration in order to hold your spots at camp. The deposit is non-refundable. If a camper cancels, their deposit cannot be applied to the group balance, but can be transferred to another student as their deposit.
  • Once registered, you can add campers to your total as long as we have space available. Please email our office to verify space availability when adding campers or chaperones to your total.
  • Final balances must be sent in on the following dates (which are approximately one month before your session of camp begins):
    • Week 1 Toccoa Falls – May 11th
    • Week 2 Toccoa Falls – May 18th
    • Beach Week Hilton Head Island – May 24th
    • Week 3 Toccoa Falls – June 25th
    • Week 4 Toccoa Falls – June 9th
  • If balance payments are not received by the dates above, a late fee of $5 per day per registration will be charged.
  • Payments related to your balance are refundable ONLY if cancelled in writing before the balance due dates above. If you have cancellations, please call or email before the due date to avoid paying the balance for spots you will not need. ALL GROUPS will be financially responsible for any cancellations after the balance due dates listed above.

Fees must be paid by check, money order, or credit card. $25 will be charged for a returned check. For any payments by credit card related to your final balance, please be aware of a 3% surcharge. If you have any questions, please contact us by email thejourneycamp@gmail.com or phone 980.202.0905.
