As the Camp Pastor, Nathan is in charge of leading our camp in the spiritual arena. He works hard to deliver relevant talks for students and enjoys providing spiritual guidance to the staff, youth pastors, and leaders.
Nathan lives in Belmont, NC with his wife, Levacy and his two beautiful daughters, Gracie and Sophie. He is the President and founder of Journey Camp and Love Africa Mission. Nathan travels and speaks to thousands of people every year – his comedy and passion for the Gospel allows him to connect with people in incredibly unique ways. Nathan claims to be a superior athlete, although we all know this isn’t exactly the case.
John David Meeder
As Camp Director, JD is involved in just about everything. He emcees, speaks, helps lead the communication team, coordinates off-campus activities, and most importantly, spends time hanging out with students, leaders, and Youth Pastors.
JD just moved to Charleston, SC after graduating from Clemson University. JD got a degree in Political Science, but decided ministry was way better than politics. JD doesn’t have his own family yet because he’s 24. He likes to compete, loves sports radio, listens to country music, and is concerningly addicted to coffee. His biggest pet peeve is when somebody doesn’t know how to give a firm handshake.
Emily is head of all things logistics – from working with churches for registration to organizing off-campus activities. If you need help signing up or knowing what’s going on, she’s probably got your answers.
Emily lives in Roanoke, VA, with her husband Michael, who is bearded and masculine. She’s working part-time with Journey Camp this spring and summer while she pursues her Master’s in History at Virginia Tech (she’s a huge nerd at heart!). If you have questions about any details at camp, be sure to reach out to her!
Ben and Kym Rodda
Camp Directors / Head of Journey Staff
Ben and Kym Rodda have been leading and discipling the Journey Staff since we started 5 years ago. Ben is in charge of recreation, free time, late night, and any and all camp activities – and yes, he is the creator of the infamous Slingshot Slip-N-Slide! Kym works hard on Journey Camp photography and heads up our art class each year at camp. She also plays a huge part of Journey Camp Leadership Experience, an intentional leadership program for student leaders every summer.
Ben grew up as a skate and snowboard legend. He went to college in Columbia, SC but honed his rad abilities in a more western state that they now call ColoRodda. Kym is from the Midwest and is a former cheerleader at the University of Arkansas. Sometimes she and Ben do this weird Woo Pig Sewie chant thing, and we think that must be their weird cheer out there. Ben and Kym currently live in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and own a photography business. They have two beautiful daughters, Stella and Savannah, who you’ll see running around camp.
