We believe that Summer Camp should be a breath of fresh air into the life of student ministry. We believe that it should be the week of the year that students, leaders, and youth pastors look forward to all year long. We believe that Summer Camp should communicate the Gospel and the Word of God in a way that students can relate to and understand. We believe that Summer camp should have some of the best worship leaders in the country, so that our campers can fully embrace what it means to worship Jesus. We believe that lodging and meals should be taken care of, so that students and leaders can focus on building community. We believe that Summer Camp should take place at a beautiful place, because all of creation is screaming glory to God. We believe that anyone who experiences Summer Camp should experience Jesus in a new and individual way. We believe that Summer Camp should set up Youth Pastors and Leaders to disciple students for the entire year. We believe that Summer Camp should be a reflection of the Kingdom of God, filled with teaching, worship and fun.
This is Journey Camp. Want in?
We like to say that we are in the business of discipleship. According to Matthew, the very last thing that Jesus said before he left the earth was, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” This is the heartbeat of everything we do.
We’ve found that one of the best disciple making tools is JOURNEY CAMP. Pulling students out of their everyday environment allows for the Holy Spirit to speak to them in a really powerful and beautiful way. We love getting to partner with Youth Pastors, and see how they are discipling students through the local Church. Through Journey Camp, we have been able to serve hundreds of churches and see countless numbers of students begin relationships with Jesus Christ.
Another disciple making avenue is LOVE AFRICA MISSION. Through the ministry of Love Africa Mission, we are able to send hundreds of people to Kenya, Zambia, and Ethiopia to expose them to the beauty and brokenness of Africa. One of the mottos of Love Africa is, “Know, Go, Grow”. If you know God, then he’s going to call you to go, when you go you can’t help but to grow in your faith and in your knowledge of Him. Over the years, thousands of lives have been transformed through the ministry of Love Africa.
Both Journey Camp and Love Africa Mission are a part of the larger, parent organization called NATHAN SMITH MINISTRIES. Nathan Smith has traveled around the world speaking to students as an evangelist for over a decade. He is a gifted communicator, with a passion for seeing students cross from death to life and grow in their walk with Jesus. Nathan would love to speak in your church soon! He has also led and discipled men who are now a part of the Nathan Smith Ministries Teaching Team: J.D. Meeder and Josh Sexton. Through this ministry, thousands of students have experienced Jesus in a new, fresh way!
As you can see, we really are in the business of discipleship. It’s what we do. It’s what we’re about. It’s who we are.
Statement of Faith
Jesus Christ, the living Word, became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is true God became true man united in one Person forever. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. On the third day He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Mediator.
The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, He gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts to us for service. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.
Being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, thereby justifies them in His sight. Only such as are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ. The Church finds her visible, yet imperfect, expression in local congregations where the Word of God is preached in its purity and the sacraments are administered in their integrity; where scriptural discipline is practiced, and where loving fellowship is maintained. For her perfecting, she awaits the return of her Lord.
Jesus Christ will come again to the earth-personally, visibly, and bodily-to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Rev. 22:20)
The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. Obedience to the Great Commission requires total commitment to “Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.” He calls us to a life of self-denying love and service. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph. 2:10)
